Have you ever wondered if you're eligible for the Bolsa Família benefit and if you can find out using your CPF (Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry)? If so, you're in the right place—and don't worry, you're not alone! Many people ask me this, especially because it's important for you to check and have extra income at the end of the month.

Indeed, Have you ever tried to check Bolsa Família and got lost among so many websites, apps and conflicting information? I went through this too. That's why I decided to share, in a simple and straightforward way, what I did to find out if I was eligible for Bolsa Família using only my CPF. And of course: in a friendly way, no fuss, no difficult technical terms.

What is Bolsa Família? (Just to clarify)

Before I tell you the steps, let me explain quickly, just so we're all clear. Bolsa Família is a federal government income transfer program aimed at families living in poverty and extreme poverty. It was created to help these families ensure the basics: food on the table, education for their children, and access to healthcare.

But It's not just about being unemployed or having a low income, see? The program has specific criteria and, most importantly, requires that your data be updated in CadÚnico (Single Registry).

How did I find out if I was eligible using my CPF?

Well, let's get to the point. When I was unsure whether or not I was eligible for Bolsa Família, I researched a thousand things. I discovered that, with the CPF in hand, you can do a simple query. And look, it was liberating to understand the right path. Below, I explain everything I did:

1. I updated my registration on CadÚnico

First of all, I went to the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) in my city and took my documents and those of my family members. With this, I ensured that my CadÚnico was up to date.

Important: Without CadÚnico, you don't even get on the Bolsa Família radar.

2. I consulted the website of the Ministry of Social Development

After that, I accessed the official website:

There's a CPF (Brazilian Taxpayer Registry) query area. Simply fill in the information correctly and you'll see if you're eligible for any benefits.

3. I used the “Bolsa Família” app on my cell phone

This app changed my life. Simple, fast, and straightforward.

To use it, it was like this:

  • I downloaded the app on Play Store, there is also a version for IOS
  • I opened it, clicked on “Consultation with CPF”
  • I filled in the data
  • It appeared immediately whether I was entitled or not

In other words: it's a practical, safe and official way to make a consultation without leaving home.

Who is entitled to Bolsa Família?

Now, if you still don't know if you can receive it, just look at the main criteria:

  • Per capita income of up to R$218 per person
  • Be registered in the Single Registry
  • Keeping children in school and up to date with vaccinations
  • Pregnant and nursing women should have prenatal and health checkups

Indeed, these criteria are analyzed automatically, as soon as your CPF is linked to CadÚnico. Therefore, keeping your registration up to date is essential.

Extra benefits of Bolsa Família

In addition to the base value (which varies depending on the number of family members), there are other additional values:

  • R$150 per child up to 6 years old
  • R$50 per pregnant woman
  • R$50 per teenager aged 7 to 18
  • R$50 per nursing mother (breastfeeding mother)

As a result, some families receive more than R$1,400 per month. This is essential to supplement the income of those who need it most.

Frequently asked questions (and ones I also had)

“Do I need to pay to check Bolsa Família?”

No, never. All official channels are free. If someone asks for money, you may be suspicious.

“If I don’t have the right now, can I have it later?”

Yes. Due to changes in income, number of residents, or other family circumstances, you may be eligible for the program at a later date. Therefore, keep your CadÚnico updated every two years. or whenever there are changes.

“Can I consult via WhatsApp?”

Not directly. However, some municipalities offer this service via the local CRAS's WhatsApp. It's worth asking!

To make your life easier, here are some summaries of what you need to remember:

  • Updated CadÚnico is the basis of everything
  • You can check your CPF on the website and app.
  • Always keep your data correct
  • Check periodically to see if you have entered the list of beneficiaries.

Oh, and don't forget: Updating your registration does not guarantee the benefit, but it is the first step towards being evaluated.

Is it worth making an appointment?

Absolutely! I did and discovered that my situation already made me eligible. Within a few days, I received confirmation and began receiving the benefit. If I had waited or remained in doubt, I might never have known.

ThereforeIf you haven't checked your CPF yet, do so today. After all, it could be the beginning of a big difference in your life and that of your family.
